Six licences, from exploration through development to production

The Group's licences are concentrated on the principal metallogenic belts of north-central and eastern Kazakhstan. We evaluate before we build: every item of capital expenditure is disciplined by resource estimation and feasibility study, so that Mineral Resources convert into Ore Reserves and cash flow at a measured pace.

Resource overview

Licence portfolio and resource distribution

The figures below are based on the most recent round of resource estimation and on licence registration data, and are updated as exploration advances and annual reconciliation is completed. Mineral Resources include the Inferred category and are not equivalent to Ore Reserves; the economically mineable portion is determined by feasibility study.

Project technical data

Resources, average grade and feasibility study conclusions are provided on a project-by-project basis. Please state the purpose and your entity details through the contact form; the full technical package is released once a confidentiality agreement is in place.

Altyn-Dala Gold Mine

Akmola Region

Operating

The Group's flagship operating mine. Mineralisation sits within an altered structural corridor in a greenstone belt and is largely disseminated gold, mined by open pit and treated by carbon-in-leach (CIL) at a recovery consistently above 92%. Exploration continues at depth and along strike to add resources.

Six blocks at different stages of resource conversion

From early-stage exploration in the Torgai Trough to a mature operating mine in Akmola, the portfolio is sequenced so that the decline of any single mine never leaves a gap in output.

OperatingSHYGYS

Shygys Gold-Copper Mine

East Kazakhstan Region

Located on the southern margin of the Altai metallogenic belt, with gold and copper occurring together at relatively enriched grades. The mine uses underground cut-and-fill, with a combined flotation and cyanidation flowsheet recovering gold and by-product copper. Tailings are returned to mined-out voids, reducing surface discharge and land take year on year.

DevelopmentSARYARKA

Saryarka Polymetallic Project

Karaganda Region

The feasibility study has been approved and work is under way on the processing plant together with external power and road infrastructure. Gold-polymetallic mineralisation shows good continuity across the block. Phase one throughput is planned at 2 Mt/a, with commissioning scheduled within two years.

Mugodzhar Gold Project

Aktobe Region

An oxide project on the Mugodzhar Uplift with a low stripping ratio and readily treatable ore. Heap leaching has been selected to contain early capital expenditure. The mining licence and surface rights are being secured, with water supply studies and environmental baseline monitoring running in parallel.

ExplorationTORGAI

Torgai Gold-Silver Project

Kostanay Region

An early-stage exploration project in the Torgai Trough. Airborne magnetic and soil geochemical surveys are complete and have defined four gold anomalies. Trenching and core drilling are advancing at 1:10,000 scale, with the first resource estimation report due this year.

ExplorationZHETYSU

Zhetysu Gold-Copper Project

Zhetysu Region

The Group's most recently acquired exploration block, close to the main transport corridor on the Kazakhstan–China border and well served by infrastructure. Alteration zones associated with a porphyry Au-Cu system are exposed within the block. Work is currently focused on regional mapping and geophysics, and the resource figure remains a preliminary estimate.

Development approach

Feasibility study as the yardstick for converting resources into reserves

Value in mining lies not in the resource figure itself, but in the recovery, the cost and the environmental footprint at which it can be extracted.

Every block passes through the same stage gates: a project may enter construction only once its resource estimate has been independently reviewed and the feasibility study returns an acceptable internal rate of return (IRR) and sensitivity range. Lower-grade oxide ore with a low stripping ratio is treated by heap leaching to contain early capital expenditure, while deeper primary ore is mined by underground cut-and-fill to limit land take and tailings volumes.

Mining rates follow the resource endowment. Rather than chasing a short-term production peak, we set annual throughput from ore body continuity and metallurgical testwork, so that mine life matches the supporting investment. Tailings are returned to mined-out voids wherever possible, surface tailings are dry-stacked and progressively reclaimed, and the closure plan is prepared before production starts, with the reclamation fund provisioned in parallel.

01

Exploration & evaluation

Airborne magnetic, soil geochemical and drilling programmes are progressively tightened to define mineralised bodies, establish continuity and deliver a resource estimation report.

02

Feasibility study

Metallurgical testwork and mining method trade-offs are completed, setting recovery, cut-off grade, capital expenditure and cash cost ranges.

03

Mine construction

Mining licences and surface rights are secured, the processing plant, power, water and tailings facilities are built, and the operation moves through commissioning to nameplate capacity.

04

Production & reclamation

Steady-state production and resource replacement continue alongside tailings backfill, slope remediation and progressive reclamation, with closure obligations fully provided for.
